Good morning in the news this morning.

Today, the temperatures are going to feel like 100 to 105 degrees.

Acting Philadelphia Health Commissioner Cheryl Bredegol issued a heat health emergency in Philadelphia as dangerous temperatures hit the region.

It begins at 8 a.m. today and it's scheduled to end tomorrow Wednesday at 11.59 p.m.

The health department declares a heat health emergency when the temperatures get high enough

that vulnerable people, especially our elderly neighbors and family members, are at an

increased risk of getting sick or dying from the heat, she said.

Now kids are flocking to the splash parks, which they are keeping open so the kids can stay

cool.

They're saying also obviously keep an eye out on your pets during weather like this.

The asphalt rises to extreme temperatures and can quickly burn their paws.

It's true.

If you ever, if you walk a dog or you go out, you can't, you're up higher.

You're not sensing it, but down towards the pavement where they are.

It's unbelievably oppressive.

Your pet's time spent outside on days like today should be minimal.

Make sure that they get enough water and back into the air conditioning as soon as possible.

Make sure you check on your elderly neighbors and family and friends.
