Two cousins accused of killing together could find themselves pitted against one another in court after one took a plea deal Wednesday and the other shocked everyone in the courtroom

and rejected one of the gruesome deaths of four young men found buried last summer on a suburban

Philadelphia farm prosecutors vowed to seek the death penalty against Sean Crats after the 21-year-old stunned prosecutors, victims, families, and even his own lawyer in turning down an offer that would have put him in prison for at least 59 years.

Unexpected outcome, said Crats' lawyer, Craig Penglaze.

Oh, cool.

Hey, what do you think, why do you think this kid turned and did this? And, I mean, you know, they have so much overwhelming evidence against these two. And this one all of a sudden says, I think the deranged mind that led them to commit the crimes to begin with is probably the culprit here. Yeah. It's the same mind that said, I'm going to turn this down. Right, I can do this.

When I first heard, I thought, okay, maybe it was Cosmo DeNardo that did all of it or the majority of it. And this kid, you know, wants to say, no, I was innocent. But he shocked his own lawyer in the courtroom. So I'm not sure that that's the case. He literally went. Cosmo DeNardo, the cousin who earlier in the day pleaded guilty to four counts of murder in exchange for a life. Sentence could be forced to testify to Crats' trial. District Attorney Matthew Wontrop said no trial date has been set. Prosecutors will seek the death penalty. De Nardo's guilty plea, which will put him behind bars for life, gave solace to a grieving father who turned to the stone face killer in a packed courtroom and said, your only way out of prison is wearing a tow tag.

That's the least we all deserve, said Mark the father of 22-year-old victim, Mark Sturgis, the mother of 21-year-old victim, Tom Mayo, cursed at DeNardo, saying it has taken everything for her not to kill herself.

De Nardo pleaded guilty to charges, including first-degree murder, conspiracy, robbery, and

abuse of a corpse. His lawyer said he did so to avoid the death penalty. Do you remember this

story was unfolding? It was like, oh, my God, it just kept getting worse and worse and worse.

Yep. Jimmy Tarot Patrick's grandparents, who have raised the slain 19-year-old since birth asked

DeNardo to pray for them and his mother who has severe mental illness.

Someday, perhaps they'll be able to forgive him.

Sharon Patrick said, my heart is broken and I will never, ever be the same.

The families of the slain men are suing DeNardo's parents saying they knew he had mental health issues and violent tendencies but didn't prevent him from accessing a gun.
