Today is the 30th day of May. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian. It is always a pleasure and a joy, a privilege and honor to be here together around the

global campfire and to even have a place like this. It is so comforting to have kind of a beacon each day in the scriptures that orient us to God.

It's crazy out there if you hadn't noticed and so kind of

keeping situational awareness is so important and the scriptures are so important to rooting and grounding us to what is true

of us and of God.

So it's great to be here and it's great to take this next step forward. We're working our way through

second Samuel right now and the life of King David at this point whose family is just completely falling apart. This is as a

result of some choices that David made. He did some terrible, like unthinkable things and he was

free to choose but he's not free to choose the consequences of his choices even though

he's tried to manipulate that as we do it's upon him and his family has kind of fallen apart and so we find David at this

point fleeing the capital city of Jerusalem with like the entire government of Israel

because David's son, Absalom, has decided to overthrow his father.

And so we have civil war and we have a military coup and we have the

absolute breakdown of a family.

So let's continue the story, 2nd Samuel,

chapter 15 verse 23 through 16 verse 23.

Everyone cried loudly as the king and his followers passed by. They crossed the Kidran Valley and then went out toward

the wilderness. Zadok and all the Levites also came along carrying the Ark of the Covenant

of God. They set down the Ark of God and Abiyethar offered sacrifices

until everyone had passed out of the city. Then the King instructed Zadok to take the

Ark of God back into the city.
