I am Brian. It is wonderful to be here. Surprising, right?

Last day of the fifth month,

how do we get five months in?

This is the one hundred fifty-first day,

actually this is leap here, 150 second day of the year.

Ah, man, well here we are, last day of May, and we have journeyed every single day to get to this point.

And so we are where we are in the Bible, and on this day, we are in the book of 2nd Samuel and we are learning about King

David and his reign we've been kind of traveling with David for quite some time now.

Gotten to know his story really well.

And he's made some unbelievably wise, faithful choices, but he's also done some really

tragically like unthinkable, unthinkable things and it has destroyed his family and so he's in the middle of an

uprising his son absolum is is trying to become king in his place and it's a battle it's a military coup that has

happened happening and king David has fled Jerusalem abs Absalom has come into Jerusalem, is taking over and has insulted

his father beyond repair by having sex with his father's concubines in the palace in front of everybody.

And so this, I mean, it's hard to have, I guess it's hard to it's hard to have I guess it's hard to have like a we don't have that kind of

set up in most of the world today but I guess just to understand the insult it would be just like

Absalom going in and sleeping with his father's wife and and that would be an insult and a breach in a relationship that would be like nearly impossible to ever, ever repair.

And so Absalom has taken this advice and done this irreversible thing.

And now he's seeking advice about what he should do next.

So let's pick up the story second Samuel chapter 17.
