Today is the 27th day of May. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian. It's wonderful to be here with you today.

It's wonderful that we have a place to be. It's wonderful that this is that

place and I'm glad that we can gather around the global campfire as we move forward together on our really never-ending journey in relationship

with the Bible. But in our relationship with the Bible for this year we have wound our way all the way to this day and this

day puts us back into 2nd Samuel. Oh man so we have learned about King David and we have learned how he became King and we have learned about his activities as King and then yesterday we learned of something the King did that was just

unthinkable and unthinkable unexcusable an unthinkable,

thinkable, unexcusable

betrayal that is beyond anything imaginable.

There was a man, his name was Uriah.

He's one of the elite soldiers of David.

Actually, one of the top soldiers in all of the nation, we'll find that out later

when we get into some genealogy stuff. He's one of the elite warriors most loyal to the king.

David has an affair with his wife and even saying that is maybe way overstated because

doesn't seem like she had much much to say about it, but she became pregnant.

And David tried to cover it up by bringing Uriah back from the battle, from war, so that he could sleep with his wife and cover it up.

But Uriah is loyal and he wouldn't do it.

He wouldn't take comfort in his home all the arc of God and

the armies of the Lord were out in battle so he didn't and so David sent him back into battle where he would be killed and he was killed.

And so then David takes a woman, her name is Bath, she about.

The Bible tells us she's beautiful, she's gorgeous,

she becomes the wife of the king.

And I don't, you know, I don't know what to say about that because we're looking at kind of like the worst of the worst that is
