It is fantastic to be here with you today as we greet a brand new shiny, sparkly week.

Brand new.

It's out in front of us.

Let's get into it, but let's do it well and let's allow the

scriptures to speak into what that might look like in the Old Testament our journey has us in 2nd Samuel right now.

And the story that we are moving through the territory is the United monarchy of Israel, so Israel's no longer like all these tribes.

They are united under a king.

They are a nation.

They still have this tribal identity, but things have changed. They look different now.

We've gone through some kingship. We've learned about kingsawl and learned a lot about ourselves.

We are now with Israel's second King. His name is King David and we're learning about his reign. Second Samuel,

nine, ten, and eleven today. And we will read from the

new living translation this week. One day David asked, is anyone in Saul's family still alive?

Anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan's sake?

He summoned a man named Zeba who had been one of Saul's servants.

Are you Zeba? The king asked.

Yes, sir, I am.

Zeba replied. The king then asked him, is anyone still alive from Saul's family? If so, I want to show God's kindness to them.

Ziba replied, yes, one of Jonathan's sons is still alive he is

crippled in both feet. Where is he? the king asked in Laudebar

Ziba told him at the home of MacKir son of Amiel.
