I'm Brian.

Great to be here with you today around the global campfire.

As we take the journey of a lifetime day by day, one step at a time, through the scriptures.

It is always, well, I think I'm trying to practice gratefulness.

So I was going to say it's always a pleasure and honor and it is.

But I'm always deeply grateful to be here today on any given day, every day.

Grateful to be here with you as we move along this journey of life together,

as we move along the journey of the scriptures together.

And as we let the scriptures be an inward journey

of self-discovery and challenge to everything about us,

grateful to not do this alone.

Grateful to be in this together with you.

So we have moved our way into Second Samuel at this point.

So our focus is upon David after the death of Saul.

And we have seen David grieve for Saul's death and the death of his friend Jonathan.

He was the father, he was the son-in-law of the king.

So he is grieving even though Saul wanted to kill him.

And everybody's watching this.

And he has gone to Hebron, which is in the tribe of Judah,

which is the tribe that he comes from.
