It's great to be here around the global cowfire, isn't it?

It's great to be here for another day and another step forward as our journey continues. Journey through the Bible and the journey inside.

Allowing what the Bible does, if we will allow it. Like, we can take it all inside of our minds,

try to sort it out, understand the history, understand the stories, which is good. That's one of the

things we're doing, but every single one of these stories is an invitation inside of our own

lives, inside of our own hearts. So I'm glad that we can be here in a safe place around the

global campfire to do the work.

And our next step forward leads us, well, back to the Jordan River, just outside of Jericho,

in the wilderness with a throng of Israelites as they are listening to their leader, Moses,

who is about to transfer authority and disappear from history and let them move forward

under new leadership.

And these are the things that he needs to tell them.

This is otherwise known as the Book of Deuteronomy.

And today we will read chapters 7 and 8.

Thank you. 7 and 8. When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess,

and he drives out many nations before you,

the Hittites, Gurgishites, Amorites, Canaanites, Parasites, Givites, and Jebiasites,

seven nations more numerous and powerful than you.

And when the Lord your God delivers them over to you and you defeat them,
