Today is the 17th day of January.

Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible.

I am Brian. It is fantastic to be here with you today as we continue our journey forward.

So yeah, we're working our way through the book of Genesis right now.

First book in the Bible, so much happens in the book of Genesis.

And so a real pivotal thing that really snaps so much of the story into place happened yesterday.

Jacob and his brother, Esau, and they're going to meet again.

But Jacob's name gets changed.

His name becomes Israel.

And all of a sudden we, like all of the sudden the children of Jacob become the children of Israel.

And all of these kids, names that we've learned as they were born,

they will become the tribes, and the children of Israel will become a nation. They have so

much to go through before that can happen. But this is where the children of Israel comes from.

And the children of Israel affect every single page of the rest of the Bible.

And so pretty pivotal for us to understand that we kind of cross that territory and how it came to be.

And now Jacob is on his way back to his ancestral homeland,

the land that his brother Esau is in,

but they have made peace with each other.

I will move forward in that story today.

Genesis, chapters 35 and 36.

God said to Jacob,

Get up, go to Bethel and settle there.
