Today is the eighth day of January. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian. It is wonderful to be here today as we gather again. Take the next step forward together. We're just setting sail for this year.

But my goodness, what an eventful first week it's been.

We're kind of beginning to find the rhythm and watch the Bible begin to unveil or unfurl before us.

We're meeting all kinds of people.

Some of them that affect the world until this very day.

Not the least of which being Jesus, our Lord, but other people like Abraham.

So we are getting context for where the story is leading us.

But we're also seeing that if we're going to do this in a meaningful way that applies into our lives instead of some kind of discipline that's a spiritual

discipline that we're supposed to do we should read our Bibles.

We don't understand our Bibles and we don't know what we're reading and so we go to the

verses that we're familiar with and we don't understand their context at all.

We are moving through verse by verse, step by step, day by day.

The whole thing and letting it reveal itself to us and finding that it reveals us to ourselves

as well.

Because this is the story of the inside life.

What are the motives that lead us to act and do the things that we do?

Why are we here?

How did we get here? What is going on? And if we can't begin to observe ourselves, well, then we live our lives as wrecking balls in some ways. But the Bible

is so deeply entrenched with the heart and the motives of why we do what we do

and speak so directly to those things.

And we've already seen that.

That won't stop.
