Hello everybody, I'm Jared Halverson.

Welcome back to Unshaken.

Can I just tell you how grateful I am for the chance to talk, shop with you every week?

This is the stuff I love.

These are waters to swim in.

And if Matthew Arnold was right about his poem, Dover Beach,

that the Sea of Faith, which used to be so full is now withdrawing,

I am so grateful to be able to splash around in still deep waters with each of you.

I am so grateful for you, your desire to learn the things of God to study scripture

together.

It truly is an honor to be able to spend this time and not just an honor, a true joy.

I love this stuff.

And when I can connect amazing truths with incredible people,

oh, I'm as happy as you can get. So thrilled to be back with you this week. Today, this week,

we only have one section to study, section 29. It is totally worth our individualized attention

this week, and there's a lot to cover. To put it in perspective, this is one of the first,

second coming sections of the Doctor in Covenants. We will see several more as we go on. Let's put it in historical

context. The church is not even six months old yet. It is not yet called the Church of Jesus

Christ of Latter-day Saints. That's going to be a later change. So far, it's simply

called the Church of Christ. But even without that clarification of what kind of Christian

church is it, the saints are still laser-focused on the last days. It's going to make sense

that here we are worshiping the Savior Jesus Christ. We are trying to be saints, but it is latter days.
