0:48.7	Autism affects lots of people worldwide, so chances are that many of our listeners know someone with autism.
0:57.2	What's the question of the week? The question of the week is, who is Satoshi Tajiri?
1:04.1	Okay, while you're thinking about who Satoshi Tajiri is, let's start learning more about autism.
1:10.4	About 1% of people worldwide have autism. That means
1:15.2	that about one out of every 100 people in the entire world have autism. In the United States,
1:22.5	it's even more common than that. In the U.S., one out of every 54 children are autistic.
1:30.3	It's more common in boys than girls.
1:33.3	That's true. Boys are four times more likely to have autism than girls.
1:40.3	The number of people with autism is increasing.
1:45.2	So here are the numbers in the United States.
1:48.4	20 years ago, one out of every 150 children were autistic.
1:53.6	And 10 years ago, one out of every 68 children were autistic.
1:58.6	As we said a minute ago, this year, the number of autistic children is
2:03.6	one out of every 54. That's a very quick increase.
2:08.7	Why are there more kids with autism now than there were a few years ago?
2:13.5	So, it's not quite clear why this is happening. Many people believe that it's one of two things.
