Hi, it's Dora here. Welcome to Radio Headspace and to Friday. If you've been listening to this show,

you know that I just moved to Los Angeles. So I took some time to shop around for the basics.

And coming from Canada, I had never been to a target before. What started as a 10 item

list turned into a 30 item filled cart. Throughout the whole week, I didn't meditate once

and evidently it showed. When I finally sat down, I sensed what felt like a gaping hole

in the bottom of my belly. I realized that the void came from moving, but also missing

my family and friends and having this uncertainty and insecurity of being in a new country, things

that can't be helped by shopping. In a search to remedy this feeling, I was reconnected

to the idea of contentment, the awareness and acceptance of life as it is. As I continue

practicing contentment, I want to share a story I came across that reminded me how important

it is to search within for satisfaction. So there was a very powerful businessman who

didn't want for anything, but still, he was always worried and restless. One day, he

went to seek refuge in a local sanctuary and met with a wise elder sage. The man told

his problem to the elder. The sage heard his problem and said, come tomorrow, I'll

tell you how to stay happy and worry free. So the man returned to the sanctuary at the
