across the screen is my good friend and co-host, Mr Ken Kelly. How are you doing, Ken? Hey, I'm really good. How are you doing today, Rory? I'm really well. I've just finished a cup of tea and a baking sandwich and I'm really up for today's podcast, which is going to be full. just jump out of good stuff It is. I love how you say across the 40-mile wire. And it reminds me, you know, that you know you can make a telephone out of two bean cans and a bit of string. You can. You can. And a 40-mile bit of string and two bean cans, which is now called Skype, the wonders of technology and how far we've come. You're

right, Rory, we've got an absolutely action-packed series for you today. We're going to be kicking

off with a really interesting debate where we're going to be speaking about the difference between

counselling an adult and counselling a younger person and where the limitations lie. Can we do that?

Can we take a placement working with younger people? So that's a great debate we'll be kicking off with. Then we're going to be handing over to you, Rory. You're going to be going to theory with Rory. Interesting one today. From the school of TA, we're going to be looking at injunctions, drivers and life scripts. I love them. I love it. Life Scripts is a, is a really interesting one for me.

Yeah, it's a really interesting one, Kent, because I was in the bookshop the other day,

and everybody who knows me or sees us on the Facebook feed. And if you want to come onto the

I spend more time and in more money than I should in bookshops. But you know, Kent, one of the first things that set me on this path was as a young boy, about 12, getting an incitlopediaia set for my parents and one of it was on psychology

didn't understand anything of it didn't understand any bit of it at all but i think that that kind

of reading those chapters about Freud probably kind of set me on a journey that's what a life

script is and that's what we're going to be talking about in theory with rory. Love it. And then we'll be moving on to skills with Ken. That's me. And in Skills with Ken, I'm going to be talking about appropriate referrals. Here's the thing. When you're in practice, even when you're in placement, there are going to be times that you're going to need to make referral. So it's about what does that look like? How do we know when we should

be making referrals? Where should we be making those referrals to? So appropriate referral

making. And then we're going to be closing off with, I guess, a topic that's truly relevant

at the moment in Ask Ken and Rory, and that is progression. So the reason we're doing this is we're

sat in May of 2016. Now we're coming to the end of the UK

academic year. And there's people who've been studying for many years who are now coming to the

end of their training and wondering what's next? Is it further training? Is it going into paid employment

as a counsellor? Rory and I are going to be speaking about progression. But we kick off with that
