Today is Day 77.

We are reading the gospel of Mark, chapter 8, verses 27 through 38. And today we are reading the gospel of Mark chapter 8 verses 27 through 38.

And today we are reading the first big climax of Mark's chapter.

We're about right at the middle point.

And we will hear Peter's bold and important confession of faith.

I'm reading from the new American translation of the Bible,

and I ask you, before we start, to join me in prayer, so our hearts might be open to God's

word. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come, Holy Spirit,

fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth.

Now Jesus and his disciples set out for the villages of Cessaria Philippi. Along the way, he asked his

disciples, who do people say that I am? They said in reply, John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others

one of the prophets, and he asked them, but who do you say that I am? Peter said to him in reply,

You are the Messiah. Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him. He began to teach them that the
