Hey, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading through the Gospels this school year.

We are on day 62 of this journey and are reading today from the Gospel of Mark,

chapter 3 verses 31 through 35.

In this passage, we will hear Jesus talk about family.

Now, I'm reading it from the New American Translation of the Bible.

And also, let's just remind ourselves that God's

holy word is alive and active. So let's prayerfully open our hearts to receive what he has for us

today. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come Holy Spirit, fill fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen. A reading from the

Holy Gospel according to Mark, chapter 3, verses 31 through 35. His mother and his brothers arrived.

Standing outside, they sent word to him and called him. A crowd seated around him told him,

Your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside asking for you. But he said to them

and reply, Who are my mother and my brothers? And looking around at those seated in the circle, he said, Here are my mother and my brothers. And looking around at those seated in the circle, he said, here are my mother and my

brothers. For whoever does the will of God is my mother and sister and brother. Very short passage

today, but important and very often misunderstood.

We talked about this in Matthew's Gospel, but it's helpful for us to remind ourselves that this translation isn't perfect. And a lot of the words in Greek, this was written in Greek, they don't perfectly translate to English. And also, just, there's cultural
