Hey, welcome back to the Catholic Spouts podcast where we are reading the Gospels this school year.

We are on day 43 and reading from the Gospel of Matthew today, starting at chapter 25 verses 1 through 30.

Today we are going to hear the parable of the 10 virgins, which is a good one and often misunderstood.

Now, today I am reading from the New American Translation of the Bible.

I encourage you to follow along and take notes.

And please remember that God's holy word is alive and active.

He has a message for us.

So let's pray that we can receive it.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew,

chapter 25, verses 1 through 30.

Then the kingdom of heaven will be like 10 virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them, but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps. Since the bridegroom was long

delayed and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight there was a cry,

Behold, the bridegroom, come out to meet him. Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.
