Welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading through the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 42 of this journey.

We are in the Gospel of Matthew, reading the end of chapter 24,

specifically verses 32 through 51. Now, in this passage, we are going to continue to hear Jesus' final sermon, and in particular the story of the faithful and unfaithful servant.

I am reading from the New American Translation of the Bible.

Please consider taking notes or following along, and remember that God's Holy Word is alive and active,

and he has a message for us. Let's pray that our hearts are

open to receive it. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 24 verses 32 through 51.

Learn a lesson from the fig tree.

When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near.

In the same way when you see all these things, know that he is near

at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken

place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
