Hey, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading through the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 33 of this journey.

We are in the gospel of Matthew, and today we will be reading all of chapter 19. In this passage, you will hear among other things the story of the rich young man.

I'm reading from the New American translation of the Bible. I encourage you to follow along

and take notes. And of course, remember

that God's holy word is alive and active. So let's begin in prayer. In the name of the Father and

of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 19, verses 1 through 30.

When Jesus finished these words, he left Galilee and went to the district of Judea across the Jordan.

Great crowds followed him and he cured them there.

Some Pharisees approached him and tested him, saying,

Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause, whatever?

He said in reply,

Have you not read that from the beginning the creator made

them male and female? And said, for this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and be
