Hey there, welcome back to the Catholic Spouts podcast, where we are reading through the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 34 of this journey.

We are in the Gospel of Matthew, reading the first half of chapter 20,

specifically verses 1 through 16. Today we'll hear the story of the workers in the vineyard.

I'm reading from the new American translation of the Bible. I encourage you to follow along and take

notes as you listen

and also open your heart up to God to receive his message. In the name of the Father and of the

Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle

in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 20, verses 1 through

16. The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out at dawn to hire laborers for his vineyard.

After agreeing with them for the usual daily wage, he sent them into the vineyard.

Going out about nine o'clock, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace and said to them,

You two go into my vineyard and I will give you what is just.

So they went off.

And he went out again around noon and around three o'clock and did likewise.
