Welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast as we work our way through the Gospels this school year.

We are on day 26 of this journey, reading from the Gospel of Matthew. We are in chapter 13 and we'll be reading verses 24 through 58. We have been hearing about parables, and today we will hear several,

including the parable of the mustard seed. I am reading from the New American translation of the Bible.

Now remember, my friends, that God's Holy Word is alive and active.

Therefore, let's pray that the Holy Spirit can open our hearts up to receive God's Holy Word.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth.

A reading from the Gospel of Matthew chapter 13, verses 24 through 58.

He proposed another parable to them. The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man who sowed good seed in his fields.

While everyone was asleep, his enemy came and sowed weeds,

all through the wheat, and then went off. When the crop grew and bore fruit, the weeds appeared as

well. The slaves of the householder came to him and said, Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where have the weeds come from?

He answered, an enemy has done this. His slave said to him, do you want us to go and pull them up?
