Hey Sprouts, welcome back to our reading of the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 166 of this journey.

We are in the Gospel of Matthew, and today we are starting chapter six. We will be reading verses 1 through 21, and in this section, we will hear John's account of the multiplication

of loaves. As always, I am reading from the New American Translation of the Bible, but before we

begin, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

amen. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth amen in the name of the father

and of the son and of the holy spirit amen a reading from the holy gospel according to john chapter six

verses one through 21 after this jesus went across the Sea of Galilee of Tiberius. A large crowd

followed him because they saw the signs he was performing on the sick. Jesus went up on the

mountain and there he sat down with his disciples. The Jewish feast of Passover was near. When Jesus raised his

eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, he said to Philip, where can we buy enough

food for them to eat? He said this to test them, because he himself knew what he was going to do.

Philip answered him,

200 days' wages worth of food would not be enough for each of them to have a little bit.

One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him,

There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish.

But what good are these for so many?

Jesus said, have the people recline.
