Hey, Sprouts, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 153, and we are working through our introduction to the Gospel of John, which we are going to begin reading in about three days. Today, we are going to talk about the specific audience that St. John

wrote his gospel for. But before we dive into that, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the

Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth. Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

So we've already talked about who St. John the evangelist was when he wrote this gospel.

And now we're going to tackle who he wrote this gospel for.

Now, in the biggest sense, we can say that St. John Evangelist wrote his gospel for the church.

And that's true.

That's very true.

It's important, however, that we look at the moment in which he wrote this to understand specifically who was

on his heart at that moment to write for. Well, he actually tells us exactly why he's writing

this. In early in this gospel, we will read this verse. He says, these are written that you

may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God,

and that believing you may have life in his name.

So, of course, through this we can see, right, we see it, that you may believe that Jesus is

the Christ.
