Hey, Sprouts, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading the Gospels in a school year.

Today is day 106.

We are starting the gospel of Luke today, and we'll be reading chapter 1 verses 1 through 38, where we will hear the account of the enunciation. Now, I'm reading from the new American

translation of the Bible. I encourage you to follow along or take notes. Before we begin,

let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son

and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them

the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

A reading from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 1, verse 1 through 38.

Since many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the events that have been

fulfilled among us, just as those who were eyewitnesses from the beginning and ministers of the

word have handed them down to us, I too have decided, after investigating everything accurately anew, to write it down in an orderly sequence for you, most excellent theophilus, so that you may realize the certainty of the teachings you have received.

In the days of Herod, King of Judea, there was a priest named Zachariah of the priestly division

of Abidja. His wife was from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. Both were righteous

in the eyes of God, observing all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly.

But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years.

Once when he was serving as priest in his divisions turn before God,
