Today is day 102 of this journey.

And we are spending this week becoming familiar with the Gospel of Luke so we can start reading it in just a few days. But as always, before we dive into anything,

let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

So yesterday we talked about who Luke was. He was a physician, he was a

Gentile. And today we're going to talk about when this gospel was written. Now again,

lots of scholarly debate about this, but the general consensus is that this was written around

the year 60 AD. And again, just to put ourselves in the

time frame a little, Jesus was born around the year zero. He died around the year 33. So this was

written just under 30 years after Jesus ascended into heaven.

And so throughout those years, a lot had happened, but a lot of significant events had

yet to happen.

And that's why we can place Luke's Gospel at the year 60.

So the interesting thing is that if you read through the Acts of the Apostles, that book ends abruptly. It ends pretty abruptly. We don't really know

what happened. But St. Paul is on house arrest. He hasn't been martyred and neither has St. Peter. And we know that
