| 1:13.9 | Matthew, we've read Mark, and now we're reading Luke. And if you remember the background, |
| 1:19.2 | we went through at the beginning of the gospel in a year journey. We know that these three |
| 1:23.7 | gospels have a lot of similar stories, a similar sort of timeline. |
| 1:29.5 | So you might be like, oh, my, same things again. |
| 1:32.7 | Let me tell you, you are going to love Luke's gospel. |
| 1:35.4 | You probably know many of these stories, but it's beautiful to see how it fits together. |
| 1:40.4 | And also, Luke is a very different author. |
| 1:44.5 | Now, there is some debate, of course, about who wrote Mark's gospel, but there is none about who wrote Luke's gospel. |
| 1:53.0 | From the very beginning through the church fathers, desert fathers, all the way through today, |
| 1:59.2 | we all agree that this gospel was written by a man named Luke, |
| 2:03.4 | who was a Gentile, meaning he was not part of the Jewish people. He was also a physician. |
| 2:10.3 | So he worked to, you know, care for the sick and the poor, a little bit different than we think |
