Welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast,

where we are working our way through the Gospels this school year.

We are on day 10 today.

We are reading from the Gospel of Matthew, starting at chapter 4 verses 1 through 11. Among other things in this passage, we will be reading about

Jesus' temptation in the desert. Now, I am reading from the new American translation of the Bible.

I encourage you to follow along as I read and also take notes in the free gospel in a school

year notebook, which you can download by following a link in the notes for this podcast episode.

Remember, my friends, that reading the gospel is different than reading any other type of book.

This is God's holy, sacred word.

He knows you.

He has a message specifically for you.

And oftentimes he chooses to deliver that message through sacred scripture.

So let's open up our hearts and our minds to God and ask him to give us his message today.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.
