Today is Wednesday, January 5th, 2021.

Now, this week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about Mary, the mother of God, our mother, the queen of heaven and earth.

What is so amazing about Mary is that we have

given her so many titles because she serves us and loves us and guides our church in so many

incredible ways that we need to give her tons of titles to celebrate who she is, what she has

done, and what she continues to do.

So we've already talked about Mary as the most holy mother of God.

We talked yesterday about how Mary is the mother of the church.

And today we're going to talk about another motherly title of Mary, and that is Mary the mother of mercy.

Now, mercy, such an important part of being a Christian.

Because unlike Mary, we are sinners.

We make mistakes.

We fall into temptation.

We do things that we promised ourselves and God that we wouldn't do, and we are in need of forgiveness, but also mercy. So, in order to understand how Mary is

the mother of mercy, I want you to picture a door, a door. And Mary is that door. On one side of that door is you.

On the other side of that door is God. And because you have committed sins and those sins are not

forgiven yet, the door is closed. So how do we open that door, especially when we know that the person we have

sinned against God himself who loves us above anything, who gave his life for us on the cross,

that he's on the other side of that door. You can feel a little intimidated, right? You can feel like

maybe he's going to be mad.

Maybe I'm going to get in trouble.
