Hey there, Spouts. Today is Thursday, November 4th, 2021. Today is also the feast day of St. Charles Barameo.

Now, this week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are talking about why the Catholic Church is so good. And one of these reasons is because our faith, the sacraments, they help us become the best version of

ourselves, also known as saints. So we've already looked at St. Francis and St. Edithstein

and seeing how they're fully embracing

the Catholic faith, allowed them to become these radically new people that were just beautiful

and joyful even during times of suffering. Today we're going to look at another saint,

a little bit further back in history, but one of my favorites.

His name is St. Joseph of Cupertino.

Now, St. Joseph of Cupertino, he was not a very likable person when he was a young man.

In fact, he was downright irritating.

He had a habit of standing around with his mouth open. You

would tell him to do something and he would completely forget about it. And he also had a terrible

temper. Now, St. Joseph of Cupertino annoyed a lot of people, but more than anyone, he annoyed his

mother. And his mother was determined to get him a job and get him out of the house.

She tried many things.

In fact, Joseph even tried to join an order of religious men.

But each time he was turned away because of his temper and because he was so irritating.

Eventually, his mother found him a job taking care of the horses at a Franciscan monastery.

And it was there that St. Joseph had a transformation.

He was exposed to the beautiful Franciscan life.

He was welcomed into the church
