Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021. Today is also the feast day of an incredible Peruvian saint, St. Martin de Poros. St. Martin de Poros was a black saint who loved Jesus very much, even though at the time the

laws in Peru did not allow him to become a brother because of his race.

He was a servant to the monks.

Eventually they noticed how truly holy this man was, and they allowed him to become a brother.

He was a wonder worker credited with many miracles.

He loved animals, even rats.

And by the time of his death, he was so well loved

that even though he was originally denied entrance into his community, bishops showed up to carry his

coffin in the funeral procession. St. Martin Teporos pray for us. Now this week we are looking at how

Catholicism is not only true but good, and how Catholicism, the faith that we

have in the sacraments, helps us become the best versions of ourselves, also known as saints.

Today we are going to look at a more modern saint who truly did have an incredible transformation when she finally found and entered

the Catholic Church. The saint was St. Edith Stein. Now, St. Edith Stein lived in the years

leading up to World War II. She was German. She was also Jewish. She was born into a family that

was Jewish. However, she was brilliant. St. Eaststein was remarkably smart. And she decided from a very

young age that she was simply too smart to believe in God, that that was something maybe less smart

people believed in. So she pursued her academic career and she excelled. She was an extraordinary

student. She went on to be an extraordinary teacher and she had many well-respected things published.

People really looked to her as one of the smartest people of her time.

However, at the time, things in Germany were changing.

The Nazi party was coming to power.
