You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:29.9

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, October 6th, 2021. This week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are talking about why Catholicism is the true version of Christianity. And today,

0:36.6

we are going to dive into one of the biggest

0:39.7

differences between the Catholic Church and many of the Protestant Christian churches.

0:47.0

And we are going to call this argument that Jesus left to church when he ascended back into heaven.

0:55.6

He did not just leave a Bible.

to be stoned. But do we ever hear about him writing anything else? No. Of course, we have

1:55.1

Holy Scripture, which we value and should be reading often. But the one thing that Christ did before he went back up into heaven

2:04.1

is he trained and he commissioned a group of people who we know as the apostles.

2:13.0

In fact, one person in particular, St. Peter, he told him, quote, you are the rock upon which I

2:23.1

will build my church. He also gave Peter authority to teach, authority to lead and to teach.

2:33.3

So this is what Christ did. He founded a church. And that church started

2:39.3

with St. Peter and the apostles. What's interesting, he didn't say, go and write things down,
