You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:41.7

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Tuesday, September 7th, 2021. This week, we are talking about why we as Catholics need to understand what we believe, why I personally, and you personally personally need to constantly be striving to understand it better and never just settle for the fact that someone I respects understands it, so I don't need to.

0:49.9

Okay, so yesterday we talked about the fact that we, our brains, the way our minds work,

0:56.0

we were created to seek truth. And that truth, the ultimate truth, is God himself.

1:03.3

So you need to be seeking a better understanding of your faith because God created you to do that.

1:09.4

Today, the second reason why you need to understand what you believe is a fairly obvious one.

1:15.8

And this is that you're growing up and there's going to come a day where you need to stand on your own two feet and say,

1:46.7

turned this podcast on for you is Catholic. And maybe you haven't given much thought to your

1:52.9

own faith. You respect some people in your life who are Catholic, so you're just kind of going

1:58.1

with the flow. And let me tell you that that's okay. That's a good

2:02.2

place to start. It's good that you have adults in your life who are sharing the truth of the

2:07.4

Catholic Church with you. That's wonderful. But there comes a day where you have to make the

2:14.6

decision for yourself. We generally see this as confirmation. The sacrament

2:20.9

of confirmation, it's a sacrament where the graces of the Holy Spirit flood into a person's life,

2:28.1

but it is also the sacrament where then afterwards we see this person as an adult in the church.

2:34.2

They're expected to help out around the parish or in larger ways,

2:39.1

but even more so, they have professed publicly

2:43.4

that they believe what the Catholic Church teaches.

2:47.6

However, it does not stop at confirmation.
