You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:32.1

Hey there, Spouse. Today is Thursday, July 22nd, 2021. Today is also the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene.

0:40.3

Now, all week, we are talking about the third beatitude. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

0:49.3

We've already talked about how meekness, to be like Christ and be meek, requires humility and patience.

0:56.8

We've also talked about how meekness requires great interior strength, that I'm going to be able to choose humility and patience, even when I'm mad and irritated.

1:01.6

Yesterday, we talked about how meekness will change the world when we have those one-on-one

In fact, many people call her the apostle to the apostles because she had the privilege of running back to where the apostles were and proclaiming to them,

2:04.1

being the first person to proclaim that Christ has risen from the dead.

2:09.8

So she's an important character from that point on in the early church.

2:15.5

Now, of course, the life of St. Mary Magdalene after Christ ascended

2:19.8

back into heaven is not recorded in the Bible, but we have many stories for life that have

2:25.5

been passed down through tradition. And one of these stories explains why we die Easter eggs

2:33.9

at Easter. And it also is a great example for us of how we are

2:39.0

meek and yet bold and powerful and forceful when we humbly place ourselves in the hands of God

2:48.0

so that he can use us as his tool. So this story takes place, of course,
