| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouse, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:31.4 | Hey there, Spouse, Today is Wednesday, July 21st, 2021. Now this summer, we are walking through the Beatitudes. This week, we are talking about the third beatitude. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. |
| 0:41.1 | We've already talked about how meekness, in order to become meek like Jesus himself, we need |
| 0:48.3 | to be humble and patient. Now, yesterday we talked about how to be meek does not mean that we are weak. Instead, |
| 0:57.9 | to be meek truly requires great interior strength so that in moments of anger or annoyance, |
| 1:05.0 | we can choose humility and patience and not fly out the handle with anger and rage like we do so often. |
| 1:13.1 | Now today we are going to talk about how meekness is actually the way that we can change |
| 1:19.5 | the world. Now there's two things to think about. How do we change the world? Do we want to simply create order or do we want to |
| 1:31.1 | create conversion? Now order means that people are doing what they should be doing. And that's good. |
| 1:39.7 | It's good that people are doing what they should be doing. But conversion means that people are doing what they should be doing. But conversion means that people are doing |
| 1:45.9 | what they should be doing because they love God and that love of God has spilled out into a love |
| 1:54.4 | for all people. So in both situations, people are following the rules, but when one of them, they're following |
| 2:03.7 | the rules maybe for fear, but in the other, they're following the rules out of love. |
| 2:11.1 | So how is it that meekness will actually change the world? |
| 2:16.5 | Well, right now, in most countries, we're trying to create order |
| 2:21.0 | through laws. We have laws about so many things about the speed that you can drive your car, |
| 2:28.6 | the age that you can do certain things, about how we spend our money or how many it's taxes we pay, right? |
| 2:35.9 | There are laws about more things than we probably know about. |
| 2:39.6 | There are a lot of laws. |
| 2:41.2 | And if a person breaks a law, knowingly decides to do the opposite of what the law directs, |
| 2:49.1 | then there is a consequence. |
| 2:50.7 | Maybe you have to pay a fine. |
