Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Monday, July 12th, 2021.

Now, this week, we are starting in on the second beatitude as we work our way through all of them.

Last week we did Blessed are the poor in spirit.

And this week we are doing, blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.

Now just to review the eight beatitudes were shared by Jesus Christ himself

when people followed him hanging on his every word

and when he gave a very important sermon, we call it the sermon on the Mount.

And as we look at the beatitudes, we realize that they show us how to be holy, how to be

blessed, but also how to be happy.

And all eight of them come together to give us a portrait of who Christ was.

And we will only be happy if we model our lives after him.

So let's talk about this.

Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.

Now, when I was a child and I first heard this beatitude, I thought it was

sort of odd. How can you be both happy or blessed and crying at the same time? Oh, then when I

thought about it more, I thought, well, I guess only people that are really sad are holy.

Now, both of these childish thoughts that I had miss the point. So there are several
