Hey there, Sprouse. Today is Thursday, June 17th, 2021. Now, all week, I have challenged myself to convince you to spend at least one hour with Jesus this summer, more, if you like. So to do this, we have talked about the origins of Eucharistic adoration, how it came out of the Middle Ages. We've also heard from St. Mother

0:45.0

Teresa of Calcutta, how everything she did, all the strength that she had to love and serve the poor,

0:51.4

came out of Eucharistic adoration.

And yesterday we heard from venerable Fulton Sheen, who was dedicated to a holy hour his entire adult life and how we become like that which we gaze upon and how there

1:09.0

has nothing better to spend an hour gazing upon than Christ himself

1:14.4

in Eucharistic adoration. Now today we are going to talk about some common feelings that a lot of us have,

1:21.7

and we're going to hear from two great saints. We're going to hear from St. Teresa of Avala,

1:27.1

who is a Spanish nun, Spanish Carmelite nun. And then we're going to hear from St. Teresa of Avala, who is a Spanish nun, Spanish Carmelite

1:41.3

wise woman who had her own conversion story, but was very

1:45.7

dedicated to the Eucharist. At one point, one of the sisters in her community was sharing

1:51.0

with her, something that I think we can all relate to. You know, she felt that Christ was distant.

1:57.1

She loved him, but she felt like she couldn't really get to know him as well as she

2:03.5

wanted to. So she would read these stories from the gospel and be jealous of the apostles. And so she

2:10.9

shared with St. Teresa of Avala, you know, if only I had lived when Christ was alive, if only I could have touched him and talked with him.

2:22.6

And I have felt this way to Sprout. Sometimes when I read the story of Thomas the doubter,

2:28.5

I can feel a little jealous that Thomas was allowed to see the risen Lord to put his hands inside of Christ's wounds

2:36.0

and how that would have made belief so much easier. But St. Teresa of Avila, a very wise and

2:43.6

holy woman, simply turned to this other nun who was talking to her, and she said to her,

2:50.2

you know, we have Christ here in the
