Today is Monday, February 1st, 2021.

This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast,

we are going to pick up with the life of Jesus

following the transfiguration,

which we discussed last week.

Now, as you likely know, today is the first day of February, and this month, on the 17th,

we will be entering into the season of Lent.

The season of Lent is a special time for us to repent, to strive for more quiet and connection with Christ,

but also to really journey with him to the foot of the cross, to embrace our own suffering,

and to relive the great gift that Christ gave us through his death on the cross.

Now, we are going to start preparing for Lent this week by journeying with Christ from Mount Tabor, where he was transformed,

and we saw him in all of his glory, talking to two superstars from the Old Testament, Elijah and Moses. Of course, he came down.

Once again, he appeared as a man, an ordinary man. And he went down from this mountain with

his inner circle of followers, Peter, James, and John. Now, what is so interesting about this, my friends,

is that from the Transfiguration, Jesus seems to be on one final journey that will take him to

Jerusalem. And although he is greeted as a rock star when he comes

into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, we know that he is crucified in Jerusalem, which is the greatest

shame that you can experience in the ancient world.
