You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:23.6

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021.

0:27.6

This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about the journey from Mount Tabor,

0:33.6

where the transfiguration occurred, all the way way to Jerusalem where Jesus will be crucified.

0:41.4

And like we talked about yesterday, what we are seeing is that the path to our salvation

0:47.8

is not us climbing a mountain, scaling the heights of holiness.

0:53.5

That is a powerful metaphor to reflect on.

0:56.9

But the true path to our salvation being washed clean of our sins is Christ himself.

1:06.3

he is God down, down, down to Jerusalem where he will eventually be crucified and die for our sins.

1:21.9

Now, today is also a special feast day in our church. Today is the feast of the presentation.

1:30.5

1:55.6

are in the temple, Joseph and Mary offer two turtle doves as sacrifice, which means they would have gone to the

2:02.0

temple and purchased these two birds, brought them to a priest who went into the inner sanctuary

2:09.1

of the temple where he would offer them as an animal blood sacrifice to God.

2:15.3

What you might not know is that according to Jewish law, Joseph should have purchased a

2:21.3

year old lamb to sacrifice on behalf of his wife and child.

2:27.1

But when people couldn't afford that when they were too poor, they had the option of buying

2:32.8

two turtle doves instead. So, Jesus Christ,

2:37.4

Lord of the universe was born into a poor family. This was a true sacrifice for Mary and Joseph.
