| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:39.6 | Hey there, Sprouse. Today is Friday, January 29th, 2021. All week long, we have been talking about Jesus' work to help his closest followers understand the true reason the Messiah had come to earth, not to fight the Romans, |
| 0:44.7 | but instead to fight the real enemy, Satan, on the battlefield of our hearts. |
| 0:52.1 | We've talked all about the transfiguration, how seeing Jesus there radiating light, speaking to Moses and Elijah, the disciples were able to see that he |
| 0:55.9 | was eternal, that he was God, that the whole Old Testament testified to him being the Messiah, |
| 1:03.9 | and then they experienced the Trinity, the Holy Spirit in the form of a cloud who overshadowed them, and God the Father's booming voice from heaven. |
| 1:16.3 | Now, there are two things that happened with the transfiguration that we need to talk about. |
| 1:21.7 | The first one is when they first saw Moses and Elijah standing there speaking to Jesus, Peter says something kind of funny. |
| 1:30.7 | Peter says, Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters, |
| 1:39.5 | one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. Now that sounds like a funny thing. Why would these men |
| 1:47.4 | radiating light, clearly from heaven, need a shelter built by an ordinary man? Well, what Peter is |
| 1:55.3 | referring to is he referring to a great Jewish feast that also was looking toward the end of the world. See, the Jews |
| 2:02.6 | believed that Elijah and Moses would appear at the end of the age, that they would come |
| 2:08.4 | when the Messiah came and they thought that would be the end of the world when they would all be |
| 2:13.1 | entering heaven. And they celebrated this event by building shelters and feasting. Jesus clearly |
| 2:21.5 | tells them, though, that this isn't quite the end. Now, the other thing that happens is, of course, |
| 2:28.1 | after God's voice booms from heaven, the three disciples fall to the ground. They hide their faces and they're terrified. |
| 2:37.6 | But then, quickly, things are quiet. Jesus touches their shoulders and gently tells them to stand up |
| 2:45.6 | and to not be afraid. And when they stand up, they see that it is only Jesus there that he has been restored |
| 2:55.7 | to the way that they were used to seeing him Moses and Elijah are gone and that Jesus their |
| 3:02.5 | friend is there again now what does all of this Well, the appearance of Jesus after the transfiguration, |
| 3:11.6 | just like us in a way that we don't need to be afraid of, is a great reminder that we should |
