Hey there, Sprouts. Today is January 28, 2021. Today is also the feast day of a doctor of the church, St. Thomas Aquinas. The St. Thomas Aquinas lived in the 1200s, and he is hailed as quite possibly the greatest, the most influential teacher of the faith that has ever lived. Many people that study and speak about the faith, including the well-known Bishop Robert Barron,

looked to St. Thomas Aquinas as one of the wisest fountains of knowledge about our faith.

St. Thomas Aquinas was dropped off at a Benedictine Abbey to become a Benedictine monk when he was

just five years old.

But despite what his family wanted, he decided instead to become a Dominican.

He spent his life as a Dominican very prayerful.

He spent his life teaching and writing.

And he proved to us that faith in Jesus Christ is compatible with intellectual

reason, that there are reasons and wisdom and knowledge behind what we believe. His most

famous piece of writing, the Summa Theologica, is an explanation of all of Catholic theology.

And like I said, he is not only a doctor of the church, but he is also what we call the angelic doctor.

Now, this week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we have been talking about the Transfiguration

and all that led up to the Transfiguration as Jesus is attempting to teach his disciples

that the Messiah did not come to fight the Romans. He came to fight Satan. And in order to do

that, he needs to suffer and die in Jerusalem. So he took his three

closest companions, went to the top of a mountain, and it was there that he was transfigured.

He glowed like the sun, and he was there speaking to Moses and Elijah, the two biggest heroes

Now, this was amazing, but what happened next was even more amazing.

We hear that there was a cloud, and that the cloud came and overshadowed them.
