Hey there, Sprouts. I'm Michael O'Rourke, father of 10 and founder of strong Catholic dad.

This week we are talking about four saints who are better than the Supers from Incredibles because their powers are real.

0:41.2

Today is Thursday, October the 8th, 2020. It's also the feast day of St. John Leonardi. Today we are talking about a South American saint, St. John Macias. He was born in

0:49.6

1585, and he was born in Spain. He became a Dominican monk in Peru, so down in South America

0:58.4

in Peru. He was a lay brother. The job that he was given was to be the gatekeeper. He was the

1:04.9

person who when somebody came to the monastery and they needed food, they needed clothing, they needed

1:09.2

prayers. They would talk to the gatekeeper.

1:11.6

And what started happening is the things that he prayed for started to happen.

1:15.6

And when people came and said, hey, I need a certain kind of clothing or whatever, he would go back and he'd come out with the very thing that they needed.

1:22.6

Well, his reputation started to grow more and more, and people who were small and unimportant

1:28.8

came to him as well as really important people.

1:31.6

Well, one of the persons who came to him was the viceroy of Peru.

1:35.5

So that's kind of like the vice president of the country.

1:38.6

And he came and he asked St. John, the gatekeeper, St. John Messias, for some prayer intentions. And so after he had asked for those of prayer intentions some time passed, and the vice royal, his prayers were answered the way that he had asked. And so he was so impressed with that. He went back to the monastery because he wanted to give a gift to St. John Macias. Well, John was embarrassed because he knew that his prayers

2:02.1

weren't being answered because he was so good, but because God was so good. And so he didn't like

2:06.5

attention. And when the vice-royd, the vice president of the country came to visit him, he didn't

2:12.2

want to receive him. And so he prayed to God. And when he knocked at the door, John didn't answer.

2:18.8

Somebody else answered the door.

2:20.8

And he said, I would like to see John Messias and give him a gift.

2:24.8

And the person said, okay, we'll go get him.

2:27.2

And I don't know why he's not right here at the door right now because he's supposed to be.
