Hey there, sprouts. Today is Wednesday, March 25th, 2020. Today is also the feast of the Annunciation. Now, this week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about the sin of greed

0:35.2

and the complex relationship that we have with possessions and

0:40.1

money. Possessions and money on their own aren't bad, but when we love them too much,

0:46.8

when we allow our thoughts to be consumed by them too much, then they are a sinful problem. Now, today we are celebrating the feast of the

enunciation. Do you know what actually happened on the annunciation? Well, if you prayed

1:06.1

So that is what we celebrate today. Now, we have been talking about the sin of greed, where we trust and we love money and possessions too much. And because of this, we fail to put our trust in

2:04.1

God. Now, when we were talking about needing to put our trust in God, we would be really hard

2:10.9

pressed to find a better example of this than our Blessed Mother Mary, specifically at the Annunciation. For just a second,

2:21.9

I want you to recall how crazy the Annunciation was. Mary was engaged to Joseph. She was going to marry

2:31.4

this man. He was a very holy man. And together, they were going to live a very

2:36.0

quiet, holy life. That was the plan. But then, all of a sudden, an angel appeared. And if you ever

2:46.5

read in the Old Testament, when an angel appears, it can be kind of a scary thing.

2:52.8

Angels are big and bright and loud, and this angel appeared to marry and she was scared.
