This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are once again talking about the prophets,

especially how they fit into God's story of how he saved us from sin, otherwise known as

the Jesse Tree.

Next, we are going to talk about two smaller known prophets, and those are the prophets of

Jeremiah and Jonah.

Now, just to review, Isaiah had been given the message by God that Israel had sinned.

And that it would be punished. Israel had broken its covenant with God to only worship him, to obey his

laws. And because of this, God could no longer protect them from the evil forces in the world. And one of those

evil forces, the empire of both Persia and Babylon, would come in and conquer them, destroy their

city, burn their temple, and take them away as slaves. Now, this did come to pass because they did not repent. However, God tried

everything he could. He kept sending prophets with the same message, begging people, please

remember the faithfulness of God. Remember what he did for you in Egypt.

Remember how he created you and loved you.

Stop sinning.

And yet their hearts were hard.

They believed only in themselves.

And because of that, God could not protect them.

The prophet Jeremiah was given this exact message.

And oftentimes the prophet Jeremiah is symbolized with a tear because Jeremiah wrote that he wished

his head was full of water so that he could cry day and night so that he would look so pathetic that people's
