| 0:35.9 | This week, we are talking about the prophets as we continue through Advent and follow along with the Jesse tree. |
| 0:39.7 | We've talked about the prophet Isaiah. Yesterday we talked about Jeremiah and Jonah. And with all of these prophets, they were begging people to repent. |
| 0:47.3 | Both Jeremiah and Isaiah were very clear that if they did not repent and change their ways, |
| 0:53.6 | there would be a terrible consequence. |
| 0:56.1 | And that consequence is that a foreign power, namely Persia and Babylon, would come in, |
| 1:02.4 | conquer the nation, destroy their city, burn down the temple, and take them all away as slaves. |
| 1:09.0 | Now, this happened. It happened about a hundred years after Isaiah |
| 1:13.3 | prophesied about it. The whole nation was conquered and taken away as slaves. And thus began a new chapter |
| 1:22.2 | in Jewish history, and that is called the Babylonian exile. All of the Jews, especially the important ones, were taken to the country of Babylon. |
| 1:33.7 | And there, they lived either as slaves or servants under a Babylonian king. |

| 1:47.4 | and that they as king were actually the almighty God. |

| 2:01.4 | ones that could decide what was right and wrong. So it was in this environment that God called up |
| 2:08.9 | another prophet. And that prophet, his name was Daniel. Now likely you know about the prophet |
| 2:16.8 | Daniel because you know about his time in the lion's den. Now likely, you know about the prophet Daniel because you know about his time in the |
