| 0:31.3 | This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are continuing our Advent journey through the Jesse tree, |

| 0:39.3 | We are talking about many of the prophets to do this. |
| 0:43.6 | And yesterday we started talking about the prophet Isaiah. |
| 0:46.9 | Now, the prophet Isaiah came with a strong warning that the nation of Israel had sinned |
| 0:52.6 | and that God would punish them. That punishment would be that |
| 0:56.3 | they would be conquered by another nation, their city and their temple destroyed, and they would be |
| 1:01.8 | taken away as slaves. This did come to pass because the nation of Israel did not change its ways. |
| 1:08.8 | And all of the things the prophet Isaiah spoke about came to pass over a hundred years later. |
| 1:14.5 | But don't worry, the prophet Isaiah was not all doom and gloom. |
| 1:19.1 | Even more important is the message of hope, the message of a beautiful future. |
| 1:27.8 | In fact, many of the readings that we read during Advent come from the book of Isaiah. |
| 1:32.5 | Isaiah was able to see who this Messiah would be. |
| 1:38.3 | Now remember, let's just go back to the beginning for one second. |
| 1:42.8 | When Adam and Eve were in the garden, they sinned. |
| 1:46.7 | They broke the covenant between God and man. Before this, human beings and God lived in perfect |
| 1:55.1 | harmony, but after the sin that was destroyed, they were cast out of the garden. And ever since that time, God was |
| 2:03.7 | working hard to bring us back to him. But this had to be done in steps. We had to learn to trust God, |
| 2:11.9 | to look to God, to obey God. And these are all hard things to learn. But we needed to learn these things before we were |
