Well, hey there, Sprout.

Today is Monday, November 25th, 2019.

This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are finally at the top of the ladder.

It has been quite acclimed these last seven weeks as we have gone through

the gifts of the Holy Spirit. So go back down to the bottom of the ladder with me for a minute

and let's climb back up remembering all that we have talked about. First, that first wrong was

fear of the Lord, where we learned to be obedient and fear punishment from the Lord.

But that's not where we stop.

The next step is piety, where we get in touch with that childlike love of God.

We remember that we are part of his family, and this pulls us into prayer. Next is knowledge. When we

learn things about God, and through the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are able to discern if these things

are from God or not. Next is the all-important gift of fortitude, strength, perseverance, the gift to keep going when things get

hard because they will get hard. Number five is the gift of counsel, the gift that guides all of the

other gifts that gives us good advice and direction directly from God.

And last week we talked about the gift of understanding, where we can take a couple of different

concepts, put them together for a deeper, more complex idea that once again perfects our faith

and allows us to understand God better.

Now, this week, at the very tippity top of the ladder, is the gift of wisdom.

We could say that all of these weeks, and our entire life as we received these various gifts

of the Holy Spirit, is a journey

or a climb toward wisdom. Wisdom is the top. We're climbing, climbing, climbing, climbing to wisdom.
