Hey there, Sprouts.

0:24.2

Today is Thursday, October 24th, 2019.

0:29.0

This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are continuing to talk about the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

0:34.8

Last week, we talked about fear of the Lord, which is step one. Today we're

0:39.2

talking about piety, which is step two. We've already talked about how the entire idea of the

0:46.3

gift of piety is based on a family. We are led to reverence for divine worship when we understand

0:54.0

that God is our father. We are called to reverence for divine worship when we understand that God is our father.

0:56.2

We are called to guard our interior holiness, meaning the fact that we are an adoration

1:02.5

1:08.4

most high God.

1:10.4

Now today, we are going to talk about the third thing

1:13.3

that Piety calls us to do when we receive this gift from the Holy Spirit, and that is to have

1:20.4

compassion and love for everyone that we meet. Now, this part of the gift of piety can be understood when we think about

1:31.3

not only God as our father and we as his children, but also as everyone we encounter as brothers

1:39.1

and sisters in Christ. Remember, just as we were specifically and lovingly created by God,

1:48.2

so was everyone else. Your annoying little sister, she was specifically and lovingly created by

1:56.7

God. The big kids at the back of the bus, they were too. Your teacher, the elderly person in the

2:05.0

nursing home, the person that annoys you, the person that intimidates you, they all were

2:12.3

specifically and lovingly created by God.

2:25.6

Now, you can see how all three of these things, called to divine worship, called to guard our interior holiness, and called to love others, all relate to each other.

2:33.0

If we believe that God is our father, we can't help but worship him.
