Hey there, it's Browns. Today is Friday, April 12th, 2019, and we are still in the fifth week of

0:27.0

Lent. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we have been learning about prayer from our guide

0:33.0

and our teacher, Jesus Christ. We have learned that prayer is simple. It's simply coming into the

0:39.9

presence of God that we can do at any moment. We've also learned from Jesus that we should pray first,

0:48.0

that we should value recited prayers and commit especially the Our Father, which he taught us to memory and to pray it from

0:57.9

the depths of our heart. We've also learned that Jesus used scripture a lot when he was praying

1:04.7

and facing temptation. Therefore, we should read the Bible, know the Bible, and even have a few verses memorized.

1:14.1

Finally, yesterday, we looked at the agony in the garden, and we thought about how we should

1:20.5

1:27.4

but we should pour our heart out to him.

1:30.9

Today, we are going to look at the biggest, most perfect form of prayer that we get to celebrate

1:38.3

1:50.0

cover in one Catholic Spouts episode.

1:53.0

So we are going to look at just a couple of things.

1:57.0

First of all, realize, my friends, that the Eucharist, the highest point of the mass, is something

2:04.6

directly instituted and taught by Jesus Christ. Throughout his whole life, he taught us a lot

2:13.3

about prayer, and he gave us the Our Father. He also gave us the Eucharist. Now, a lot of the types of

2:23.0

prayer that we have been talking about this week are done in the private. Some of them are even done

2:28.5

in the depths of our heart. They don't even have words that go along with them. The mass is different.

2:35.5

The mass is what we call communal prayer, meaning we do it as a community, as a group.

2:44.0

There are certain people that have to be there for us to celebrate the mass.
