Summary

Today we are kicking off a brand new series: THE ABC's OF THE CATHOLIC FAITH! Join us as we work our way through the entire alphabet, and learn more about our wonderful Faith. Today we are kicking things off with A which is for Apostolic Succession!

+ MONDAY: Apostolic Succession is the historical continuity between the present Church and the Apostles.

+ TUESDAY: The Bishops have received the authority God gave the Apostles at Pentecost.

+ WEDNESDAY: In the New Testament we see Matthias, Timothy and Titus made bishops and receive this authority.

+ THURSDAY: Early Church Fathers spoke about bishops and apostolic succession.

+FRIDAY: The miter, crosier, and episcopal ring worn by the bishop help us understand his duty and authority.

St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross was born Jewish in the late 1800s,

and she died during World War II. Because she was Jewish, even after she converted to the Catholic

faith and became a nun, that's why her name was changed then to Teresa Benedicta of the cross. She was a Carmelite

nun. Even after that, the Nazis found her and her sister, who had also converted, they deported

them to the Auschwitz concentration camp where they died with countless other Jewish people. St. Teresa Benedicta of the cross was

very depressed before she found Jesus. She was an intellectual who thought that she was just

too smart to believe in God, but she found great peace and comfort in Jesus Christ, in the Holy

Eucharist, and she is remembered as going to her death completely at peace and comforting others.

We pray that we can also share her deep faith and find true peace in Jesus.
