24. My name is Sir Roland Paterlot, and you're listening to Saturdays with Sir Roland

on Catholic Sprouts, where every Saturday we discuss the art of dragon slain.

Today is the feast of St. John I was not John the first because he was the first St. John. That would be John the Apostle.

He was John the first pope named John. And John was actually his real name. Interestingly, Pope St. John the second was the first Pope to have changed his name. His original name was Macurious. As his parents

named him after the pagan god Mercury, he figured that was inappropriate for a pope, so he took the

name of St. John I, who was martyred seven years earlier. John I was elected Pope at the time of the

Aryan heresy, and he was martyred in his efforts to bring peace to the conflict. If you're keeping

score with the pope names, John has become the most popular pope name, as the last man to take that

name was St. John the 23rd. That doesn't even count John Paul I, and John Paul the second,

who used two pope names, so that actually would be 25 popes who have now used the name John. So let's continue our series

on the seven dragon slain maxims. As always, we will do a quick review of the maxims we have

discussed so far. Number one, try your best and trust in God's grace to do the rest. Number two,

to kill the fruit of the dragon, you must get to the root of the dragon. Number three, if it seems

the dragon is not attacking, check your pulse.

It's probably lacking.

Number four, if you let the dragon hover near, be where the dragon may disappear.
